Jon Tho is a Singaporean composer and has collaborated with groups such as the Singapore International Festival of Music (Singapore, 2017), Mandelring Quartett (Neustadt, Germany, 2017), MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands (Singapore, 2017), Chiesa Cristiana Evangelica Internazionale “LA PIETRA” Di Roma (Rome, Italy, 2018), Ngilngig (Davao, Philippines, 2018), Ensemble de la Belle Musique (Singapore, 2019), Academia Musica (Austria, Vienna, 2019), Korg (Singapore, 2019), Fidelio Piano (Spain, 2020), Golden Key Music Festival (Austria, Vienna, 2020), Leaping Clear (the United States, 2020), ABLAZE Records (Australia/ United States, 2020), Brno Philharmonic Orchestra (Brno, Czech Republic, 2020), reMusik (Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2020), Franz Schubert Conservatory Vienna (Austria, Vienna 2020), David Bohn (Wisconsin, the United States, 2020), Associazione Cultura e Musica G. Jon Tho studied at the Lasalle College of the Arts, where he graduated with honors as a major in composition. He was awarded 1st prize in the Golden Key Piano Composition Competition and the 30th International Competition for Young Musicians ‘Citta di Barletta’, 2nd prize in the Academia Musica International Music Competition and the Franz Schubert Conservatory of Vienna International Composer Competition, 3rd prize in the New Symphony Vienna International Composers Competition, and a finalist in the Fidelio Piano Composition Contest and the Score Wars x Hans Zimmer vs John Williams. He also represented The Pianist Studio as a guest judge for the KORG Junior Piano Competition 2019. Jon also obtained ALCM and Grade 8 from the University of London; London College of Music (LCM), and the Associated Board of Royal Schools (ABRSM) for composition, piano, and music theory. Jon Tho is a member of the Composers Society of Singapore (CSS), Boston New Music Initiative (BNMI), and Black Dot Press.

His teachers in composition include Belinda Foo, Felix Phang, Dr. Chong Kee Yong, and Dr. Joseph Curiale. In Singapore, he also studied piano performance under the tutelage of classical pianist and Berklee alumni Lena Tan, music theory from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) alumni Derrick Lim and has also received instruction from Berklee alumni Khew Sin Sun, music technologist/ founder of MusicTEC. His recent research interest includes evaluating compositional processes between Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and music notation software.
